وشادنٍand a young gazelle كالقضيبlike a branch عطفاًin his supple form
وشادنٍ كالقضيب عطفاً
أطالhe prolonged فيin صبِّهhis passionate lover عناهُhis anguish
أطال في صبِّه عناهُ
And a young gazelle, supple as a branch,
With a slim and upright figure
has prolonged his lover’s anguish.
Stretching himself while irrigating it
يكادalmost عضبa keen sword اللحاظthe glances منهfrom him
يكاد عضب اللحاظ منه

بغير ريبٍ يفري حشاهُ
The keen sword of his glances almost
His angry glance was about to make
cleaves his lover’s vitals, beyond all doubt.
The stones flee without doubt
