Behold, today is a festival for humankind:

delight, beauty, and generosity.

ما تري شي كف

ما تري شي كف

تصبح الأطيار

تصبح الأطيار

Do you not see how

the birds greet the morning

في منابر من

في منابر من

اغصان الأشجار

اغصان الأشجار

on pulpits made of

the branches of trees,

ويغنوا فالعود

ويغنوا فالعود

بلا أوتار

بلا أوتار

and make the lute sing

without strings?

بهج هيّت قد عمّت الأكوان

بهج هيّت قد عمّت الأكوان

ومسرّا تبدوا على ألوان

ومسرّا تبدوا على ألوان

It is joy that has filled all creation,

and gladness appears in many colors.

والخلائق للفحص كاصحاروا

والخلائق للفحص كاصحاروا

والزوارق فاللج بحّاروا

والزوارق فاللج بحّاروا

And the people have gone out onto the plain,

and the skiffs have sailed upon the deep.

وعقول من نظرهم اسحاروا

وعقول من نظرهم اسحاروا

ري هيت عروسة البلدان

ري هيت عروسة البلدان

And they have bewitched the minds of those who saw them.

Behold, she is the bride of cities,

عين هيّت تحفّها الأجفان

عين هيّت تحفّها الأجفان

فلا تنظر سوى وجوه تشرق

فلا تنظر سوى وجوه تشرق

an eye she is, encircled by eyelids.

So you see nothing but radiant faces,

ولا تسمع سوى سلام يخفق

ولا تسمع سوى سلام يخفق

وترابي من الفرح تشهق

وترابي من الفرح تشهق

and hear only fluttering greetings,

and my soil gasps with joy.

ويشيروا لمولنا السلطان

ويشيروا لمولنا السلطان

هو عصمنا وأمّن الأوطان

هو عصمنا وأمّن الأوطان

And they point to our lord, the sultan:

he has protected us and made the homelands safe.

بوجودك تزيّن الدنيا

بوجودك تزيّن الدنيا

بقدومك نغاث بالسقيا

بقدومك نغاث بالسقيا

Your presence adorns the world;

with your coming, we are relieved by rain.

ندع ربّي يمتعك بالبقيا

ندع ربّي يمتعك بالبقيا

ويزيدك

ويزيدك

I pray to my Lord to grant you lasting life,

and give you still more,

حتّ تفني عبادة الأوثان

حتّ تفني عبادة الأوثان

كنسجّع لو أن نشجّع

كنسجّع لو أن نشجّع

until you end the worship of idols.

I would rhyme, if only I were encouraged;

ما عسى القول للهنى يرجع

ما عسى القول للهنى يرجع

وش فصيل هو

وش فصيل هو

what can words give back for joy?

And what camel calf is it [sense unclear]

نبيع بالمرجع

نبيع بالمرجع

إنمي هو دعا إلى الرحمان

إنمي هو دعا إلى الرحمان

that I sell for a return?

It is only a prayer to the All-Merciful

في خليفا قد شرف الأزمان

في خليفا قد شرف الأزمان

for a caliph who has ennobled the ages.
