O full moon in the sky of the caliphate,

whose palace's halo encircles the stars of good fortune!

You clothed your servant in one of your own robes,

which his powers of gratitude have failed to match.

And your approval of him is the finest thing you have clothed him in,

for it has indeed extolled his standing and goodness.

    أهديتني ما لا أقوم بحصره

    You clothed me, gave me a mount, and honored me;

you bestowed on me more than I can count.

My gazing upon your face—the fairest shining light,

which puts the age's sun and full moon to shame—

is a loftier and greater favor, especially

as I am blessed in his presence by his cheerful welcome.

May you ever remain a patron to kings, looked to with hope,

and may your graces be Islam's pride in its age.
