قد نُظمَ الشملُ أَتمَّ انتظامْ

ولاحت الأقمار بعد المغيبْ

The company has been brought together in perfect order,

And the moons have appeared after their absence.

وأضحك الروض ثغور الكمامْ

وأضحك الروض ثغور الكمامْ

عن مَبْسِمِ الزهر البَرود الشنيبْ

عن مَبْسِمِ الزهر البَرود الشنيبْ

And the garden made the mouths of the bud-sheaths smile,

Revealing the flowers' cool, pearly-toothed smile.

وعاودَ الغصنَ زمانُ الصِّبا

وعاودَ الغصنَ زمانُ الصِّبا

وأُشربَ الأنسَ جميعُ النفوسْ

وأُشربَ الأنسَ جميعُ النفوسْ

And the season of youth returned to the branch,

And all souls were imbued with delight.

وعمَّمَ النَّوْرُ رؤوسَ الربى

وعمَّمَ النَّوْرُ رؤوسَ الربى

وجلّلَ النُّورُ وجوهَ الشموسْ

وجلّلَ النُّورُ وجوهَ الشموسْ

And blossoms turbaned the heads of the hills,

And light mantled the faces of the suns.

وأَطْربَ الغُصنَ نسيمُ الصَّبا

وأَطْربَ الغُصنَ نسيمُ الصَّبا

فالدوحُ للشكرِ تحُطُّ الرؤوسْ

فالدوحُ للشكرِ تحُطُّ الرؤوسْ

And the east wind's breeze thrilled the branch,

So the great trees lower their heads in gratitude.

واستقبلَ البدرُ ليالي التمامْ

واستقبلَ البدرُ ليالي التمامْ

وصافَحَ الصبحَ بكفٍّ خضيبْ

وصافَحَ الصبحَ بكفٍّ خضيبْ

And the full moon welcomed the nights of fullness,

And shook dawn's hand with a dye-stained palm.

وراجعَ الأطيارَ سجعُ الحمامُ

وراجعَ الأطيارَ سجعُ الحمامُ

بكلِّ ذي لحنٍ بديعٍ غريبْ

بكلِّ ذي لحنٍ بديعٍ غريبْ

And the doves' cooing returned to the birds,

With every bearer of a wondrous, rare melody.

نواسمُ الوادي بمسك تفوحْ

نواسمُ الوادي بمسك تفوحْ

ونَفْحَةُ الندِّ به تَعْبَقُ

ونَفْحَةُ الندِّ به تَعْبَقُ

The valley's breezes waft the scent of musk,

And the breath of fragrant incense pervades it.

وبهجةُ السكانِ فيهِ تلوحْ

وبهجةُ السكانِ فيهِ تلوحْ

وجوُه من نوره يُشْرقُ

وجوُه من نوره يُشْرقُ

And the inhabitants' joy shines within it,

Faces shine with its light.

وعَرفُه بالطيبِ منهُ يَفوحْ

وعَرفُه بالطيبِ منهُ يَفوحْ

كأنه من عنبرٍ يُفْتَقُ

كأنه من عنبرٍ يُفْتَقُ

And its fragrance wafts from it, rich with perfume,

As though it were released from ambergris.

والنَهرُ قَدْ سُلَّ كمثلِ الحُسامْ

والنَهرُ قَدْ سُلَّ كمثلِ الحُسامْ

حَبابُهُ تَطْفو وطَوراً تَغيبْ

حَبابُهُ تَطْفو وطَوراً تَغيبْ

And the river has been unsheathed like a sharp sword,

Its bubbles float, and at times disappear.

وثغرها قد راقَ منه ابتسامْ

وثغرها قد راقَ منه ابتسامْ

يُهَنِّئ الحِبَّ بقرب الحبيبْ

يُهَنِّئ الحِبَّ بقرب الحبيبْ

And a smile from her mouth brought delight,

Congratulating the dear one on the beloved's nearness.

كوكبٌ أبراجُهنَّ الخُدودْ

كوكبٌ أبراجُهنَّ الخُدودْ

يلوحُ عنها كلُّ بدر لَياحْ

يلوحُ عنها كلُّ بدر لَياحْ

A star—their zodiacal houses are cheeks;

From them shines every radiant full moon.

جواهرٌ أصْدافُهنّ القُصورْ

جواهرٌ أصْدافُهنّ القُصورْ

نظَّمها السعدُ كنظمِ الوشاحْ

نظَّمها السعدُ كنظمِ الوشاحْ

Jewels—their shells are palaces,

Good fortune strung them like a jeweled sash.

يا حبذا والله ركبُ السرورْ

يا حبذا والله ركبُ السرورْ

يُبَشِّرُ المولى بنيلَ اقتراحْ

يُبَشِّرُ المولى بنيلَ اقتراحْ

Oh, how welcome, by God, is the caravan of joy,

Bringing the lord glad tidings of attaining his wish.

ابتهجَ الكونُ بموسى الإمامْ

ابتهجَ الكونُ بموسى الإمامْ

واختال في بُردِ الشباب القشيبْ

واختال في بُردِ الشباب القشيبْ

The universe rejoiced in Musa, the imam,

And strutted in the fresh mantle of youth.

وعادَهُ يخدم مثل الغلامْ

وعادَهُ يخدم مثل الغلامْ

شبابه قد عَادَ بعد المشيبْ

شبابه قد عَادَ بعد المشيبْ

And back to it came, serving like a boy,

Its youth, returned after graying.

أكرمْ به واللهِ وفدُ الكريمْ

أكرمْ به واللهِ وفدُ الكريمْ

موْلاتُنا الحرةُ في مُقْدِمِهْ

موْلاتُنا الحرةُ في مُقْدِمِهْ

How noble, by God, is the generous one's delegation!

Our freeborn lady is at its head.

مرضاتُها تُحظي بدار النعيمْ

مرضاتُها تُحظي بدار النعيمْ

وتوجبُ التوفيقَ من مُنْعِمِهْ

وتوجبُ التوفيقَ من مُنْعِمِهْ

Her approval grants favor in the abode of bliss,

And secures success from its Bestower.

بَشَّرَ بالنصرِ وفتْحٍ جسيمْ

بَشَّرَ بالنصرِ وفتْحٍ جسيمْ

وخَيْرُهُ أجمعُ في مَقْدَمِهْ

وخَيْرُهُ أجمعُ في مَقْدَمِهْ

It heralded victory and a mighty conquest,

And all its goodness lies in its arrival.

لقاؤُها المبرورُ مسكُ الخِتامْ

لقاؤُها المبرورُ مسكُ الخِتامْ

بَشَّركَ الله بصُنْع عجيبْ

بَشَّركَ الله بصُنْع عجيبْ

The blessed meeting with her is the musk of the close.

May God bring you glad tidings of a wondrous deed.

وقصرُك الميمونُ قصرُ السلامْ

وقصرُك الميمونُ قصرُ السلامْ

خُطّ بحفظِ من سميعٍ مجيبْ

خُطّ بحفظِ من سميعٍ مجيبْ

And your blessed palace is the palace of peace,

Marked out under the protection of One who hears and answers.

مولايَ يهنيك وحقَّ الهنا

مولايَ يهنيك وحقَّ الهنا

قد نظم الشملُ كنظم السُّعُودْ

قد نظم الشملُ كنظم السُّعُودْ

My lord, may it gladden you—and joy is your due.

The company has been united like a string of lucky stars.

قد فزتَ بالفخرِ ونيلِ المنى

قد فزتَ بالفخرِ ونيلِ المنى

وأنجزَ السعدُ جميعَ الوعودْ

وأنجزَ السعدُ جميعَ الوعودْ

You have won glory and the fulfillment of your desires,

And good fortune has fulfilled every promise.

وقَرَّتِ العينُ وزال العنا

وقَرَّتِ العينُ وزال العنا

وكلما مَرَّ صنيع يعودُ

وكلما مَرَّ صنيع يعودُ

And the eye found comfort, and suffering vanished,

And whenever a kindness passes, it returns.

فلا يَزَلْ ملكُكَ حِلْفَ الدوامْ

فلا يَزَلْ ملكُكَ حِلْفَ الدوامْ

يحوزُ في التخليدِ أَوْفَى نصيبْ

يحوزُ في التخليدِ أَوْفَى نصيبْ

So may your reign ever be eternity's ally,

Winning the fullest share in immortality,

يتلو عليك الدهرَ بعدَ السلامْ

يتلو عليك الدهرَ بعدَ السلامْ

نَصْرٌ مِنَ اللهِ وَفَتْحٌ قريِّبْ

نَصْرٌ مِنَ اللهِ وَفَتْحٌ قريِّبْ

Reciting to you for all time, after the greeting of peace:

"Victory from God and a conquest close at hand."
