أي خير يَرجو بَنو الدهرِ في الدَه
رcompletion of 'time' ومازالَand has always been قاتلاًa killer لِبَنيهِof its children
ر ومازالَ قاتلاً لِبَنيهِ
What good do the children of time hope for in time,
What good do the people of time hope for in life
when it has never ceased killing its children?
When it remains an everlasting killer of its sons?
مَنwhoever يعمرlives long يفجعis stricken with grief بفقدby the loss of الأحباloved ones (truncated)
مَن يعمر يفجع بفقد الأحبا
ومنand whoever ماتَdies فالمصيبةُthen the calamity فيهِin him
ومن ماتَ فالمصيبةُ فيهِ
Whoever lives long is stricken by the loss of loved ones;
He who lives long will grieve the loss of loved ones
and whoever dies, the calamity is in losing him.
And he who died, the disaster was in him
