Three make the world shine with their splendor:

the morning sun, Abu Ishaq, and the moon.

For the rising sun mirrors him in radiance,

when sight fails to encompass it.

The full moon mirrors him, shining forth in darkness,

when its radiant nights are illumined by it.

His deeds in every calamity are mirrored by

the rain, the lion, and the hard-tempered sword.

For rain mirrors the bounty of his two hands, pouring down,

when rain bursts forth in a steady downpour.

And sometimes, in rage, there charges

the prey-crushing lion, with a charge like his.

And the Indian sword reflects, among his firm resolves,

his decisive judgment, from which come undoing and binding fast.

Each of them resembles him in one aspect alone,

though action and outward forms differ in each.

    فقد تكامَلَ فيك النفعُ والضرَرُ

    And you unite all the excellence they possess;

for in you benefit and harm have reached perfection.

So creation is a body with a head that governs it,

and you are its two faculties: hearing and sight.
