وليل في جوانِبِه فُصُولٌ

من الأظلام أدهمَ غيهباد

من الأظلام أدهمَ غيهباد

And a night, along whose sides lie stretches

The night has in its corners seasons

Of darkness—jet-black and pitch-dark;

Of darkness, deeper than jet black

كأنَّ نُجومَه دَمعٌ حَبيسٌ

كأنَّ نُجومَه دَمعٌ حَبيسٌ

ترقرقَ بينَ أجفانِ الغَواني

ترقرقَ بينَ أجفانِ الغَواني

As though its stars were tears held back

As if its stars are captive tears

That shimmered between the eyelids of beautiful women.

Trickling between the lids of the lovesick
