إذاwhenever اختلجَتtwitches عينيmy eye رأتsees مَنthe one whom تُحِبّهit loves him
إذا اختلجَت عيني رأت مَن تُحِبّه
فدامَso may it last لعينيfor my eye ماas long as حييتُI live اختلاجُهاits twitching
فدامَ لعيني ما حييتُ اختلاجُها
Whenever my eye twitches, it sees the one it loves.
Roaming eyes when they see whom I love
So may my eye's twitching last as long as I live.
May they keep roaming as long as I live
وماand not ذُقتُI tasted كأساًa cup مُذsince تعلّقنيtook hold of me الهَوىlove
وما ذُقتُ كأساً مُذ تعلّقني الهَوى
فأشرَبهاand then I drink it إلاexcept ودَمعيand my tears مِزاجُهاits admixture
فأشرَبها إلا ودَمعي مِزاجُها
And since love took hold of me, I have never tasted a cup
No cup have I drunk since love possessed me
And then drunk it without my tears mingled in it.
