ضاقت أسباب البرايا

مابقى إلا القناعه

مابقى إلا القناعه

The means of humankind have grown straitened;

The means of goodness have narrowed

Nothing remains but contentment.

فالزموها باقتصاد

فالزموها باقتصاد

واجعلوها أعلى بضاعه

واجعلوها أعلى بضاعه

So hold fast to it with moderation,

So stick to it with moderation

And make it your most prized commodity.

And make it your most precious merchandise

فازعبد قد عرفها

فازعبد قد عرفها

ثم سواها متاعه

ثم سواها متاعه

Triumphant is a servant who has known it,

For the contented slave has known it

And then made it his provision.

Then made it his treasure

واحذر واعادات سوء

واحذر واعادات سوء

أورثت طول المجاعه

أورثت طول المجاعه

And beware of evil habits,

And beware of evil habits

Which have brought on prolonged hunger,

That have caused prolonged famine

واغتراب وافتراق بل وللدين ضياعه

واغتراب وافتراق بل وللدين ضياعه

في برور وبحور وبها طال انتجاعه

في برور وبحور وبها طال انتجاعه

And exile and separation—nay, even the loss of faith—

And estrangement, separation, and even loss of religion

Across lands and seas, where his search for sustenance grew long,

In land, sea-they have long cried out

عن قريب وحبيب

عن قريب وحبيب

لم يراهم بعض ساعه

لم يراهم بعض ساعه

Away from a kinsman and a loved one,

For loved ones

Whom he has not seen even for a brief moment.

That some have not seen for a while

والسبب في ذا جميعه

والسبب في ذا جميعه

كله تضييع طاعه

كله تضييع طاعه

And the cause of all this,

And the reason for this altogether

All of it, is the neglect of obedience

Is the loss of obeying

لعظيم الفضل ربي

لعظيم الفضل ربي

الذي منه القناعه

الذي منه القناعه

To my Lord, immense in bounty,

The One of great bounty, my Lord

From whom contentment comes,

Who granted us contentment

وعدم حفظ الهدى

وعدم حفظ الهدى

من أمرنا باتباعه

من أمرنا باتباعه

And failure to uphold the guidance

And not preserving the guidance

Of the one we were commanded to follow:

He ordered us to follow

سيد السادات من قد

سيد السادات من قد

خصه الله بالشفاعه

خصه الله بالشفاعه

The master of masters, whom indeed

The Master of masters, the one

God has singled out for intercession.

God has honored with intercession

رب وفقنا وسدد واهدنا سبل الجماعه

رب وفقنا وسدد واهدنا سبل الجماعه

من صحابي وولى في فعاله واستماعه

من صحابي وولى في فعاله واستماعه

Lord, grant us success, set us aright, and guide us along the paths of the community,

O Lord, help us stay guided on the path of the community

Of each Companion and saint, in his deeds and his listening.

Of the righteous companions in action and listening

واختم العمر بخير عندما يدني انقطاعه

واختم العمر بخير عندما يدني انقطاعه

وصلاة وسلام دائمان في ضراعه

وصلاة وسلام دائمان في ضراعه

And seal life with goodness when its end draws near.

And let me end my life with good when its time is up

And blessings and peace, everlasting in humble supplication,

And may prayers and peace always beseech

يغشيان المصطفى أحمد

يغشيان المصطفى أحمد

ذا الفصاحه والبراعه

ذا الفصاحه والبراعه

May they both envelop the Chosen One, Ahmad,

The Chosen One Ahmad

Endowed with eloquence and excellence,

Of supreme eloquence and skill

وعلى آل وصحب

وعلى آل وصحب

مالغصن الريح زاعه

مالغصن الريح زاعه

And upon his family and companions,

And upon his family and companions

As long as the wind sways the branch.

Like the waving of a branch in the wind
