1. الحمدلله حمدا كل آن

    حمدا يفوق لحمد الحامدين

    Praise be to God at every moment,

    Praise surpassing the praise of those who praise,

  2. على الهدى والكفايه والأمان

    فالحمدلله رب العالمين

    For guidance, sufficiency, and safety.

    So praise be to God, Lord of all worlds.

  3. وكم نعم ليس تحصى باللسان

    ولا تعد بعد العادين

    How many blessings cannot be counted by the tongue,

    Nor numbered by those who count:

  4. في الحال والمآل والدين المصان

    وأهلنا والقرابه والبنين

    In our present state, our final end, and our safeguarded faith,

    And our family, kinfolk, and sons.

  5. يا رب ياذا العلا والإمتنان

    والفضل والجود للناس أجمعين

    O Lord, O Possessor of exaltedness and beneficence,

    And bounty and generosity toward all people,

  6. يا سامعا للدعا يامستعان

    يامن إليه الشكايه يامعين

    O Hearer of supplication, O One whose help is sought,

    O You to whom complaints are brought, O Helper,

  7. يا عالما بالظواهر والجنان

    فرج علينا وكل المسلمين

    O Knower of outward things and hearts,

    Bring relief to us and all Muslims.

  8. وارفع جميع الفتن والإمتحان

    واستر فإنك خير الراحمين

    Lift all tribulations and trials,

    And veil our faults, for You are the best of the merciful.

  9. وتب علينا عسى نرجع زيان

    فإننا في المعاصي غارقين

    Accept our repentance, that we may become upright again,

    For we are immersed in sins.

  10. فامنن علينا وإن كنا شيان

    نرجع بفضلك وجودك طائعين

    So favor us, though we are wicked,

    That through Your grace and generosity we may return obedient.

  11. واحفظ إلهي من آفات الزمان

    وكمن لنار بنافي كل حين

    And protect us, my God, from the afflictions of time,

    And be there for us, our Lord, at every moment [reading uncertain].

  12. واختم بخير إذا آن الأوان

    لي والقرابه وكل الطالبين

    And grant a good ending when the time comes,

    For me, my kinfolk, and all who seek,

  13. في لطف وافرواسكنا الجنان

    وهب لنا يا إلهي حورعين

    In abundant kindness, and lodge us in Paradise.

    And grant us, my God, wide-eyed houris.

  14. ذا فصل والثاني اسمع يافلان

    إن كنت تسمع لقول الناصحين

    This is one section; hear the second, O so-and-so,

    If you listen to the words of advisers.

  15. تب توبه قبل تمسي ميت فان

    ماينفعك طول خرنك والحنين

    Turn in repentance before you become dead and gone;

    Your prolonged grief and longing will not help you.

  16. واعمل لاخراك اعمالا حسان

    يرضى بها عنك رب العالمين

    And do good deeds for your hereafter,

    Deeds for which the Lord of all worlds is pleased with you.

  17. واطلب علوما بها يحيا الجنان

    واسلك عليها سلوك الصادقين

    And seek knowledge by which the heart comes alive,

    And live by it as the truthful do.

  18. وابعد من الناس قاصيهم ودان

    واحذر تسمع مقال القائلين

    And keep away from people, the distant and the near,

    And beware of listening to the words of those who talk.

  19. يورثك هما وغما وامتحان

    والخسر والنقص في دنيا ودين

    It brings you worry, sorrow, and trial,

    And loss and decline in worldly life and faith.

  20. واذكر الهك بقلبك واللسان

    وجالس الله تظفر باليقين

    And remember your God with your heart and tongue,

    And keep God's company; you will attain certainty.

  21. فالذكر لله يجلي كل ران

    ويبعد الشر وابليس اللعين

    For remembrance of God clears away every layer of rust,

    And drives away evil and accursed Iblis.

  22. وذاكر الله محفوظ مصاسن

    جليسه الله خير الخالقين

    And one who remembers God is protected and safeguarded;

    His companion is God, the best of creators.

  23. والله يحفظه من حاسد وشان

    فاذكر وكن دائما في الذاكرين

    And God protects him from the envious and the hateful.

    So remember Him, and always be among those who remember.

  24. وناسي الله فيه الخسر بأن

    قرينه ابليس راس الفاسقين

    And in one who forgets God, loss is manifest;

    His companion is Iblis, chief of the transgressors.

  25. ينساه ربه وذاراس الهوان

    فاحذر تكن يا فتى في الغافلين

    His Lord forgets him, and that is the height of humiliation.

    So beware, young man, of being among the heedless.

  26. واحفظ مقالك إذا شئت الأمان

    إلا بخير أو بمعروف مبين

    And guard your speech if you desire safety,

    Speaking only goodness or what is plainly right.

  27. واسأل من الله لا تسأل لثان

    رب الأوائل ورب الآخرين

    And ask of God; do not ask another,

    Lord of the first and Lord of the last.

  28. يعطيك سؤالك ومطلوبك بأن

    احذر تعلق بغيره ياظنين

    He grants you what you ask and seek; this is plain.

    Beware of attachment to anyone but Him, O doubting one.

  29. فاحفظه يحفظك جاذا في بيان

    عن خاتم الأنبيا والمرسلين

    So be mindful of Him, and He will protect you; this is stated in a saying

    From the Seal of the prophets and messengers.

  30. صلى عليه الإله المستعان

    والآل والصحب بل والتابعين

    May God, whose help is sought, bless him,

    And his family and companions—indeed, the followers too—

  31. مع السلام عدد كل أذان

    وعد أنفاس خلقه أجمعين

    Together with peace, in number equal to all calls to prayer,

    And to the breaths of all His creatures.

  32. ومطلبي رب قل له كن فكان

    والحمدلله رب العالمين

    And, Lord, say to my request, 'Be'—and it is done.

    And praise be to God, Lord of all worlds.
