إن صلح أمر ذي الدنيا وواتتك أولا

إن صلح أمر ذي الدنيا وواتتك أولا

O Wajih, let us explain to you, for this is more fitting for you.

O my beloved, let me explain to you, for this is more proper for you

Whether this world's affairs go well and it favors you or not,

If the affairs of this world are set right, and you are given primacy first

سلم الأمر للرحمن قلبا وقولا

سلم الأمر للرحمن قلبا وقولا

والحذر الحذر من قول لم لا ولولا

والحذر الحذر من قول لم لا ولولا

Entrust the matter to the Most Merciful, in heart and in word.

Entrust the matter to the Merciful, in heart and speech

And beware, beware of saying 'Why?', 'No!', and 'Were it not for...'.

And beware, beware of saying "if only" or "if not"

سر بها شاذليه ما ترى قط هولا

سر بها شاذليه ما ترى قط هولا

واعلم أنك مسخر عبد والله مولى

واعلم أنك مسخر عبد والله مولى

Follow it in the Shadhili way; you will never see terror.

Travel with it, O Shadhili, you will never see any terror

And know that you are a servant under command, and God is the Master.

And know that you are a subjugated servant, and Allah is the Master

ليس لك قوة كلا ولا قط حولا

ليس لك قوة كلا ولا قط حولا

فاسكت اسكت تأدب عند ذولا وذولا

فاسكت اسكت تأدب عند ذولا وذولا

You have no strength—none at all—nor any power, ever.

You have no power at all, never at all any might

So be silent, be silent; show respect in the presence of these and those.

So be silent, be silent, be humble before the Almighty
