وفي المساجد سر ما جلست بها

ألا تعجبت ممن يسكن الدورا

And in the mosques lies a secret, whenever you sit in them:

In mosques, there is a secret in sitting there

Have you not marveled at those who dwell in houses?

Are you not amazed at whoever dwells in homes

نور وأنس وحفظ للجليس بها

نور وأنس وحفظ للجليس بها

من كل شر وضر فاسمع الشورى

من كل شر وضر فاسمع الشورى

Light, solace, and protection for whoever sits in them

Light, companionship and protection for those sitting there

From every evil and harm—so heed the counsel.

From all evil and harm, so listen to counsel

وإن يكن خاليا ليس به أحد

وإن يكن خاليا ليس به أحد

فاجلس به واعتكف فيه تجد نورا

فاجلس به واعتكف فيه تجد نورا

And if it is empty, with no one in it,

Even if empty with no one there

Then sit in it and remain there in devotional retreat; you will find light.

Sit in it, seclude yourself, you will find light
