يا أيها الإنسان

احذر من العدوان

O human being,

beware of aggression,

والبغي والطغيان

خف من العدوان

and oppression and tyranny.

Fear aggression.

الواحد القهار

يعذبك بالنار

The One, the All-Subduing,

will punish you with fire;

تمسي مع الكفار

في وسط نار الله

you will end up with the unbelievers

in the midst of God's fire.

احذر من التبعات

فإنها ظلمات

Beware the consequences,

for they are darkness

في يوم حق آت

يقتص فيه الله

on a day that will surely come,

when God will exact retribution.

لا تؤذي المسكين

فيورثك تمحين

Do not harm the needy,

lest it bring you affliction

في القبر بل في الحين

يغضب عليك الله

in the grave—indeed, even now.

God will be angry with you,

وليس لك شافع

أيضا ولا نافع

and you will have no intercessor,

nor any helper either;

ولا تجد دافع

لك من عذاب الله

and you will find no protector

to shield you from God's punishment.

وفي خبر مسلم

عن النبي المسلم

And in a report by Muslim,

from the Prophet: 'A Muslim

من سلم المسلم

منه كذا والله

is one a fellow Muslim is safe

from'—so it is, by God.

وجاء لن يؤمن

من جاره المؤمن

And it is reported: 'No one will have faith

whose believing neighbor

لا يأمنه آمن

بقول عبدالله

does not feel safe from him.' Believe

in Abdullah's words.

إن لم يصل برك

فلا يصل شرك

If your kindness does not reach them,

then let neither your evil

لهم ولا ضرك

مثل جماد الله

nor your harm reach them—

be like God's inanimate things.

خذ نصح من ناصح

ينظر لك الصالح

Take advice from an adviser

who looks out for your welfare;

ولا تكن طالح

من شر خلق الله

and do not be wicked,

among the worst of God's creatures.

إن لم تكن غانم

عسى تكن سالم

If you gain nothing,

may you at least be unharmed;

واحذر تكن ظالم

مبغوض عندالله

and beware of being an oppressor,

hated by God.

إن شيت إن ترحم

للمسلمين ارحم

If you wish to be shown mercy,

show mercy to Muslims;

فمن رحم يرحم

جاعن رسول الله

for whoever shows mercy is shown mercy,

as reported from God's Messenger.

من يؤذي المسلم

كان كمن يهدم

Whoever harms a Muslim

is like one who demolishes

للبيت ذي عظم

بخير أرض الله

the majestic House

in the finest of God's lands.

فكم أتى تشديد

عظيم مع تهديد

So many stern warnings have come,

grave, and accompanied by threats,

لا يحصره تعديد

لمؤذي خلق الله

beyond all counting,

for those who harm God's creatures.

كن نافعا للناس

بالفعل والإيناس

Be useful to people

through deeds and friendliness,

لأنك كالخناس

ذي قد لعنه الله

for you are like the slinking whisperer,

whom God has cursed.

كن راحما نفسك

من قبل رمسك

Be merciful to yourself

before your burial,

تعضض خمسك

ندامة والله

lest you bite your fingers

in remorse, by God.

فالمؤمنون إخوة

كذاك لك أسوه

For the believers are brothers.

Likewise, you have an example

بالسادة الصفوه

ممن يحب الله

in the noble, chosen masters,

among those who love God,

ممن يحب الخير

لنفسه والغير

among those who love goodness

for themselves and others,

ويكرهون الضير

لكل خلق الله

and hate harm

to any of God's creatures.

يطهر بذا قلبك

يرضى به ربك

Through this your heart becomes pure;

your Lord is pleased with it;

يغفر به ذنبك

تنال فضل الله

through it He forgives your sin;

you attain God's bounty.

يارب يارحمن

اغفر لنا العصيان

O Lord, O Most Merciful,

forgive us our disobedience,

وهب لنا الإيمان

مع الرضا بالله

and grant us faith,

along with contentment with God.

واختم الأعمار

بالعفو ياغفار

And bring our lives to their close

with pardon, O Oft-Forgiving One;

نحشر مع الأبرار

في زمرة أهل الله

may we be gathered with the righteous

in the company of God's people.

واكفنا الأشرار

والشر والأوزار

And protect us from the wicked,

evil and burdens of sin,

والهم والأكدار

من محض جودالله

worry and troubles,

through God's pure generosity.

ثم صلاة الله

مع سلام الله

Then may God's blessing,

together with God's peace,

على رسول الله

خاتم رسل الله

be upon God's Messenger,

the seal of God's messengers,

وكل من نبي

والآل والصحب

and every prophet,

and the family and companions,

وكل ذي حب

لهم لوجه الله

and everyone with love

for them, for God's sake.
