1. يا مريدين السعاده والتعلم والعباده

    اطلبوها باجتهاد ما على جده زياده

    O seekers of happiness, learning, and worship,

    Seek it with diligence, with no greater earnestness possible.

  2. من طلب يعطيه ربي

    فوق سوله ومراده

    Whoever seeks, my Lord gives him

    More than his request and his desire.

  3. فاطلبوا دابا علوما

    فضلها فوق الشهاده

    So seek knowledge unceasingly,

    Whose merit surpasses martyrdom.

  4. واتركوا قيلا وقالا

    واغتيالا لعباده

    Give up idle talk and gossip,

    And treacherous killing of His servants.

  5. خاب عبد ضاع عمره

    في البطالة والبلاده

    Ruined is a servant whose lifetime was wasted

    In idleness and dullness,

  6. والسفاله والخساسه

    ما تيقظ من فساده

    And baseness and vileness.

    He never awoke from his corruption.

  7. ماذكر موته وقبره ماتزود لمعاده

    ماحمد ربه تعالى من حمد مولاه زاده

    He never remembered his death and grave, nor took provisions for his final return.

    He never praised his Lord Most High; whoever praises his Master receives more.

  8. ياغبونه ياشجونه

    ما ننبه من رقاده

    Alas for his loss, alas for his sorrows!

    We do not rouse him from his slumber.

  9. إن نصحته أو وعظته

    ليس يرجع من عناده

    If you counsel him or admonish him,

    He does not turn from his stubbornness.

  10. سوف يخسر سوف يحسر

    عندما يمسي رماده

    He will lose; he will grieve

    When he becomes ash.

  11. سوف يندم حين يقدم

    ويرى حرقة فؤاده

    He will regret it when he arrives,

    And sees his heart's burning anguish.

  12. وهو وسط القبر جيفه

    ماله فرش او وساده

    While he lies a corpse in the midst of the grave,

    With no bedding or pillow.

  13. وين خرشه وين لبسه

    وين هاتيك القلاده

    Where are his belongings, where are his clothes?

    Where is that necklace?

  14. وين مسحه وين زينه

    وين زنده وعضاده

    Where is his cloak, where is his adornment?

    Where is his forearm, and his upper arm?

  15. وين أهله وين ولده

    من يفكه من قياده

    Where is his family, where is his child?

    Who will free him from his bonds?

  16. راحت الدنيا عليه

    ما معه منها جراده

    The world has slipped away from him;

    Not even a locust of it is with him.

  17. ما معه غير اكتسابه

    من شرور أواجاده

    Nothing remains with him but what he earned,

    Of evil deeds or good.

  18. يا عيالي يابناتي

    أين من يبغي السياده

    O my children, O my daughters,

    Where is the one who seeks eminence?

  19. أين خطاب المعالي

    من هم للخير قاده

    Where are the suitors of lofty aims,

    Those who lead toward goodness?

  20. وين من يهوى نعيما

    لا سبيلا لنفاده

    Where is the one who longs for bliss

    With no way for it to run out?

  21. فاسمعوا إلى وانصتوالى

    واحفظوا حفظ استفاده

    So listen to me and give me your attention,

    And retain it in memory so as to benefit.

  22. تحمد والقول إن عملتم

    وأخذتم في اعتماده

    You and this counsel will be praised if you act,

    And set about following it.

  23. كل خير فالزموه

    واتركو إلى كل عاده

    Every good thing—hold fast to it,

    And give up every habit for my sake.

  24. واطلبوا مرضاة ربي

    في استتار وشهاده

    And seek my Lord's pleasure,

    In secrecy and in the open.

  25. واتركوا الناس وماهم

    فيه تحظوا بالسعاده

    Leave people and whatever they are

    Engaged in; you will attain happiness.

  26. واذكروا الله كثيرا

    فازمن ذكراه زاده

    And remember God often;

    Successful is he whose provision is remembrance of Him.

  27. ذاكر في كل حال

    ذاك تحظى بوداده

    Remember Him in every state;

    Through that, you will gain His love.

  28. فاشكروا الله احمدوه

    يامريدين الزياده

    So thank God; praise Him,

    O seekers of increase.

  29. والذي ينساه ينسى

    غره إبليس وكادة

    And whoever forgets Him is forgotten;

    Iblis has deceived him and plotted against him.

  30. إن ذكر الله باقي

    غير ذكر الله عاده

    Indeed, remembrance of God endures;

    What is not remembrance of God is mere habit.

  31. والقناعه خير مال

    بخت من ماله زهاده

    And contentment is the finest wealth;

    Fortunate is he whose wealth is renunciation.

  32. ليس يحرق ليس يسرق

    ليس يخشى من فساده

    It can neither be burned nor stolen;

    There is no fear of its decay.

  33. واجتهد مادمت حيا

    بخت من همه جهاده

    And strive as long as you live;

    Fortunate is he whose concern is his striving.

  34. وعلوم الدين حصل

    لخلاصك والإفاده

    And acquire the sciences of religion,

    For your salvation and to benefit others.

  35. فازعبد قد تيقظ

    ثم شمر لرشاده

    Successful is a servant who has awakened,

    Then girded himself for right guidance,

  36. وعلى الله توكل

    وإلى الله استناده

    And placed his trust in God;

    And his reliance is on God.

  37. ياسروره ياحبوره إن ختم له بالشهاده

    ياكريما يارحيما يالطيفا لعباده

    How great his joy, how great his gladness, if his end is sealed with the testimony of faith!

    O Generous One, O Merciful One, O One gentle toward His servants,

  38. هب لنا فضلا عظيما

    ليس نحصى لعداده

    Grant us immense grace,

    Whose measure we cannot count.

  39. واصلح القلب واذهب

    لفساده وسواده

    And set the heart right, and remove

    Its corruption and its darkness.

  40. واختم العمر بخير

    عند ختمه وحصاده

    And seal our life with goodness

    At its close and its harvest.

  41. وصلاة الله ربي

    عد طشات الرهاده

    And may the blessing of God, my Lord,

    As numerous as the drops of rain,

  42. تتغشى خير خلقه

    وعباده في بلاده

    Envelop the best of His creation

    And His servants in His lands.
