أَهلاًwelcome بِفطرٍto Eid al-Fitr قَدhas أَنارَshone هِلالُهُits crescent
أَهلاً بِفطرٍ قَد أَنارَ هِلالُهُ
فَالآنso now فَأغدُthen go in the morning عَلىto المدامthe wine وَبَكرِّand start early
فَالآن فَأغدُ عَلى المدام وَبَكرِّ
Welcome to Eid al-Fitr, whose crescent has shone!
Welcome a Ramadan whose crescent has brightened
So now, go to the wine in the morning, and make an early start.
So now drink from the wine at dawn and hasten
وَاِنظُرand look إَلَيهِat it كَزَورَقlike a skiff مِنof فُضةsilver
وَاِنظُر إَلَيهِ كَزَورَق مِن فُضة
قَدhas أَثقَلتَهُweighed it down حُمولَةٌa cargo مِنof عَنبَرambergris
قَد أَثقَلتَهُ حُمولَةٌ مِن عَنبَر
And look at it, like a skiff of silver,
Look at it like a silver boat
Weighed down by a cargo of ambergris.
Burdened with a load of ambergris
