محرمةforbidden أَكفالhaunches خَيليmy horses عَلىto القَناthe spears
محرمة أَكفال خَيلي عَلى القَنا
وَداميةand bloodied لباتهاtheir upper chests وَنُحورَهاand their throats
وَدامية لباتها وَنُحورَها
The haunches of my horses are forbidden to spears,
My horse's hooves are forbidden on Al-Qana
And their upper chests and throats are bloodied.
Its nights and days, its chests and necks
حَرامforbidden عَلىto أَرماحِناour spears طَعنstabbing مُدبِرa fleeing man
حَرام عَلى أَرماحِنا طَعن مُدبِر
وَتُندقand break مِنهاfrom them فيin الصُدورthe chests صدورهاtheir foreparts (spearheads)
وَتُندق مِنها في الصُدور صدورها
Our spears are forbidden to stab a fleeing man,
It is forbidden for our spears to stab one fleeing
And their points snap off in chests.
Yet they pierce chests and out come their hearts
