نَرجسه يُنسي الوَرى شكله
مثلlike حَبيبa beloved فاتنenchanting دلهhis coy charm
مثل حَبيب فاتن دله
The form of his narcissus makes mortals forget,
His narcissus makes one forget the land’s shape
Like a beloved whose coy charm enchants.
Like a beautiful beloved enchants one’s heart
نَسيمهits fragrant breeze كَالراحlike wine لَوif يَحتَوىcould be contained
نَسيمه كَالراح لَو يَحتَوى
وَالروحand the soul لَوif يَعقدcould be solidified مُنحلهits dissolved essence
وَالروح لَو يَعقد مُنحله
Its fragrant breeze is like wine, could it be contained,
His breeze, if it could be contained, like the soul
And like the soul, could its dissolved essence be made solid.
As if it could be gathered, and then scattered
