عَجَباً لِشَمس أَشرَقَت في وَجهه

عَجَباً لِشَمس أَشرَقَت في وَجهه

لَم تمح مِنهُ دُجى الظَلام المطبق

لَم تمح مِنهُ دُجى الظَلام المطبق

How strange that a sun shone upon his face,

Amazing is the sun that rose on his face

yet did not dispel from him the gloom of enveloping darkness.

It did not wipe away the pitch darkness

وَإِذا تمطر في الرِهان رَأيته

وَإِذا تمطر في الرِهان رَأيته

يَجري أَمام الريح مثلُ مطرِّق

يَجري أَمام الريح مثلُ مطرِّق

And when he gallops in the race, you see him

And if it rains in the meadow, you see it

running ahead of the wind like a hammerer.

Flowing before the wind like a waterfall
