Contemplate my thinness and the crescent when it appears,
Look at me and the crescent when it appears
on its night, upon its horizon—which of us is more emaciated?
In its horizon, which of us grows thinner
عَلىdespite أَنَّهُthe fact that it يَزدادincreases فيin كُلِevery لَيلةnight
عَلى أَنَّهُ يَزداد في كُلِ لَيلة
نُمُوَاًin growth وَإِنّيand indeed I بِالضَنىfrom wasting illness دائِماًcontinually أفنىI waste away
نُمُوَاً وَإِنّي بِالضَنى دائِماً أفنى
Yet with every night it increases
Though it increases every night
in size, while I continually waste away from illness.
While I wither away continuously
