And a wine—no one seeks from his Lord,

once He has granted it to him, anything more in His keeping.

In its cup are figures that, for their beauty, one takes

for amorous, supple women come forth from Paradise.

And when the mixing water stirs them, they share out

gold and pearls, paired and single.

And it is as though they wore that as saffron-dyed robes,

and made this into necklaces for their throats.
