My thumb and index finger have come to you,

to thank you for what you bestowed upon my little finger.

So the two met in a speaking pen,

    which expresses their hidden gratitude.

They helped their sister with what

they inscribed in lines of praise,

in return for the favor you showed her with that

which adorned her—a jewel of exquisite beauty.

You clothed her with an agate ring-stone that came

to vaunt itself above her red ruby.
