يا سرودا في الخطايا

يا سرودا في الخطايا

بغرور قد خطر

بغرور قد خطر

O you who persist in sins,

O poem in sins

Who have swaggered in delusion,

With arrogance conceived

عد إلى مولاك تنج

عد إلى مولاك تنج

في غد من ذا الخطر

في غد من ذا الخطر

Return to your Lord, and be saved

Return to your Master, be saved

Tomorrow from this peril.

From this danger tomorrow

وعلى أبوابه قف

وعلى أبوابه قف

ثم أجر الدمع ذلا

ثم أجر الدمع ذلا

And stand at His doors,

And at His door stand

Then let tears flow in humility,

Then let the tear flow

لتنال العز فيها

لتنال العز فيها

وترى الكسر انجبر

وترى الكسر انجبر

So that you may attain honor there,

To gain might through Him

And see brokenness made whole.

And see the fracture mended

وهوى النفس اتركنه

وهوى النفس اتركنه

فالهوى عقباه هوان

فالهوى عقباه هوان

And abandon the soul's desire,

And desire of the soul leave it

For desire ends in humiliation.

For desire's consequence is disgrace

واطو نشر الذنب طيّا

واطو نشر الذنب طيّا

لترى العفو انتشر

لترى العفو انتشر

And fold the spread of sin completely away,

And fold the spread of sin

So that you may see forgiveness spread.

To see forgiveness unfold

وتوسّل بالنبي

وتوسّل بالنبي

And seek intercession through the Prophet,

And beseech the Prophet

The Hijazi, the Arab,

Of Hejaz, the Arab

صاحب الجاه العلي

صاحب الجاه العلي

مَن له شُقّ القمر

مَن له شُقّ القمر

Possessor of exalted standing,

Master of sublime glory

The one for whom the moon was split.

Who split the moon
