ويا ترى بالفراق
منfrom بعدafter ماthat شمتI glimpsed
من بعد ما شمت
And I wonder, at parting,

After I smelled
أرىI see الشميلاتthe little shawls عليهupon him
أرى الشميلات عليه
أخَيّmy dear brother قدalready التمّتgathered together
أخَيّ قد التمّت
do I see the little shawls upon him,
