ياO حُداةcamel-drivers بالمطاياwith the mounts
يا حُداة بالمطايا
يممّواmake for خيرbest البقاعthe places
يممّوا خير البقاع
O camel-drivers with your mounts,
O horsemen riding noble steeds
make for the best of places.
Make your way to the best of lands
شَكَرَmay reward المولىthe Lord دواماalways
شَكَرَ المولى دواما
لكمfor you هذيthese المساعيthe endeavors
لكم هذي المساعي
May the Lord ever reward
The Lord gave thanks eternally
you for these endeavors.
For your endeavors in this cause
كررواrepeat باللَهby God قولاًwords
كرروا باللَه قولاً
طابwas sweet منكمfrom you فيin سماعيmy hearing
طاب منكم في سماعي
Repeat, by God, words
Repeat in God's name your prayer
that sounded sweet to my ears from you.
Sweet to my ears was its recourse
واحملواand carry أزكىpurest سلامgreeting
واحملوا أزكى سلام
منfrom مشوقone who yearns فيin انقطاعseparation
من مشوق في انقطاع
And carry the purest greeting
Convey the most virtuous greetings
from a yearning one in separation,
From one longing in his withdrawal
ذابmelted وجداًwith longing لكريمfor a noble one
ذاب وجداً لكريم
فيin الحمىthe sanctuary ثَمّthere مُطاعobeyed
في الحمى ثَمّ مُطاع
who has melted with longing for a noble one,
Melting in fervor for the noble one
obeyed there in the sanctuary;
In sanctity then dutifulness
منwho إلىto أعلىhighest مقامstation
من إلى أعلى مقام
قدhas تسامىrisen high فيin ارتفاعexaltation
قد تسامى في ارتفاع
who, to the highest station,
To the highest station he ascended
has risen in exaltation.
Rising lofty in his eminence
ودعاand summoned الأشجارthe trees جاءتthey came
ودعا الأشجار جاءت
نحوهtoward him دونwithout امتناعrefusal
نحوه دون امتناع
He summoned the trees, and they came
The trees came to him without protest
toward him without refusal.
At his request they did advance
وجرىand flowed الماءthe water عيوناًas springs
وجرى الماء عيوناً
منfrom يديهhis two hands فيin اندفاعa rush
من يديه في اندفاع
And water flowed as springs
Water sprang forth as fountains
from his hands, gushing forth.
Flowing from his hands in abundance
ولهand for him الأحجارthe stones لانتsoftened
وله الأحجار لانت
عندduring مشيwalking باتّضاعin humility
عند مشي باتّضاع
And for him the stones softened
For him the rocks did gently yield
as he walked in humility.
When walking in his reverence
صلّbless ياO ربّLord عليهupon him
صلّ يا ربّ عليه
صلواتblessings باتّباعin succession
صلوات باتّباع
Bless him, O Lord,
Oh Lord, bless him endlessly
with blessings in succession.
With prayers of acquiescence
