A lovesick man grew weary on the night of departure and slept through it.
The night of departure cried for him
Longings cried out to him as he faltered: "Enough!"
And longing called out as he turned away

قُدّام حاديها العقيقُ ورامه
Why this delay, while the mounts travel by night?
Why hesitate with luggage in secret?
Al-ʿAqīq and Rāmah lie ahead of their camel-driver.
Before you coral mounts and scattered sands

برق تألّق بالأبيرق شامه
Whenever slackness held him back, his longing was stirred
Nothing equals shortcoming but yearning
by lightning he saw flashing at al-Ubayriq.
A lightning flashed with green lights evening glow

He kept traveling beneath the midday sun,
Walking in emigrant's sun he continued
yearning for a full moon shaded by a cloud.
Yearning for a full moon shadowed by clouds

وبكفه أبدى الجماد كلامه
Springs of water gushed from his palms,
Eyes rained from His palms
and in his palm, lifeless matter revealed its speech.
And His hands speaking make the inanimate talk

And the full moon was split for his sake, and likewise hastened
The moon split for His sake and so stretching
the trees of the wilderness, out of love and reverence for him.
Trees inclined with love and veneration to Him

Upon Him, His honored kin and companions
and to the God of the earth, his prayers and peace.
And the Lord of earth peace and blessings everlasting
