O people, how sweet good health is!

    Sweeter than zalabiya,

And than kunafa that came for free,

    Atop a heap of qatayef.

In these times, O Gentle One,

    May no Muslim fall ill:

    His heart begins to tremble,

And his life brings no contentment.

This sick man, O Muslims [opening wording unclear],

    For him, jasmine becomes

    More appetizing than fatty meat

    And pure sheep-tail fat.

    Since he becomes like this,

I toss him with just one hand:

You see his legs lying still [reading uncertain],

And all his limbs are feeble.

    But the merciful Lord

    Rewards him with abundant recompense,

And praise be to God, the Generous,

For the attainment of good health.
