صَرَفتَyou turned aside بِعَدلِكَwith your justice صَرفَthe vicissitudes of الزَّمانِtime
وَأَحيَتand revived عَطاياكَyour gifts مَيتَthe dead الكَرَمgenerosity
With your justice, you have turned aside the vicissitudes of time.
You turned the course of time with your justice,
And your gifts have revived generosity that lay dead.
And revived your generous gifts for the deceased nobility.
فَلاso may it not زالَcease بِشرُكَyour smiling cheer قَبلَbefore النَّوالbounty
كَماjust as ابتَسَمَsmiled الغَيثُthe rain ثُمَّthen انسَجَمpoured forth
So may your smile always precede your bounty,
So your goodness never ceases to be received,
Just as the rain smiled, then poured forth.
As the rain smiled then poured down rapidly.

And your sword outstrips the cloud's reach:
And your sword precedes the brilliance of lightning,
that with water, and this with blood.
One with water and the other with blood.
