اللّّه يشفي وينفي ما بجبهته

اللّّه يشفي وينفي ما بجبهته

من الأذى ويعافيه برحمته

من الأذى ويعافيه برحمته

May God heal him and remove what is on his forehead

of affliction, and restore him to health through His mercy.

أما العلاج فاسهال يقدمه

As for treatment, let him begin with a purge;

I have placed its prescription at the end of my verses.

وليرسل العلق المصاص يرشف من

دم القذال ويغني عن حجامته

And let him apply bloodsucking leeches to draw some of

the blood at the back of his head, thus sparing him cupping.

واللحم يهجره إلا الخفيف ولا

يدني إليه شراباً من مدامته

يدني إليه شراباً من مدامته

And let him avoid meat, except what is easily digested, and not

bring a draught of his wine near himself.

والوجه يطليه ماء الورد معتصراً

فيه الخلاف مدافاً وقت هجعته

فيه الخلاف مدافاً وقت هجعته

And let him anoint his face with rosewater, with an extract

of willow mixed into it at his bedtime.

ولا يضيق منه الزر مختنقاً

ولا يضيق منه الزر مختنقاً

ولا يصيحن أيضاً عن سخطته

ولا يصيحن أيضاً عن سخطته

Nor let his collar-button be so tight that he chokes,

nor should he shout out of anger, either.

هذا العلاج ومن يعمل به سيرى

آثار خير ويكفي أمر علته

آثار خير ويكفي أمر علته

This is the treatment, and whoever follows it will see

beneficial effects, and it will suffice to address his ailment.
