يا ممرضي بجفون لأمراض بها

يا ممرضي بجفون لأمراض بها

صحّت ومن طبعها التمريض والمرض

O you who sicken me with eyelids that, because of ailments within them,

O nurse of the sick, whose eyes tend illnesses,

Have grown sound, though their nature is to sicken and be sick.

Whose nature is to nurture and cure,

أمنن علىّ بوصل منك يسعدني

أمنن علىّ بوصل منك يسعدني

فقد يسدّ الجوهر العرض

فقد يسدّ الجوهر العرض

Grant me union with you that will make me happy,

Bestow upon me a gift of yours that brings me joy,

For an accident may stand in for a substance.

For the essence may compensate for appearances.
