God is greatest! This is the face of Ishaq.
God is Supreme, this is Isaac's face
This is the crescent, and this is the sun in radiance.
This crescent, this radiant sun

This is the imam whose inner qualities are noble,
This Imam with the fragrant dwellings
and who is noble in soul, in branches, and in leaves.
With a soul, branches and leaves made wholesome
هَذاthis الَّذيwho جيدَتwas rained upon الدُنياthe world بِنائِلِهِby his bounty

This is he whose bounty rained upon the world,
He whose coming renewed the world
and through whose generosity the rock burst into leaf.
The rock sprouted from his purity’s rain
هَذاthis الَّذيwho أَمِنَbecame safe الفَجُّthe pass العَميقُdistant بِهِthrough him

This is he through whom the distant pass became safe,
He who made the perilous straits safe
and who put the Romans and the crosses to flight in fear.
And startled the Romans and their crosses in fear
هَذاthis الَّذيwho هَجَرَforsook الأَوطانَthe homelands مُحتَسِباًseeking God's reward

This is he who forsook his homelands, seeking God's reward,
He who left home with devotion
in obedience to God, spending his lifetime in giving.
To spend his life obeying God generously

O the frontier's joy in the aided king—nay,
O joy of the land with the victorious king
O the joy of faith and the world in Ishaq!
O joy of religion and life with Isaac
لَمّاwhen تَجَلّىshone forth رَأَتهُsaw him عَينُthe eye of طاعَتِناour allegiance

When he shone forth, the eye of our allegiance saw him
When he appeared, the eye of our devotion saw
as glowing embers; so our limbs became eyes.
Amber so our limbs turned to sparks
لَكِنَّماbut مُقلَتةُthe eye of الإِذفُنشِAlfonso قَدalready شَخَصَتstared fixedly
فَماso it does not تُديرُturn مِنَfrom الإِطراقِlowering the gaze حِملاقاan eyelid
But Alfonso's eye has become fixed in a stare,
But the eyelid of al-Eyelid could not help blinking
so, with his gaze lowered, it does not move an eyelid.
So it cannot stop its trembling
فيin قَلبِهِhis heart مِنكَbecause of you نيرانُfires مُسَعَّرَةٌset ablaze

In his heart, because of you, are fires set ablaze,
Within him for you is kindled fire
consuming his ribs with scorching and burning.
That consumes the soul with burning
نَزلُhospitality of الجحيمِHell أَتاهُcame to him قَبلَbefore مَهلَكِهِhis death
فَإِنand if تَمادىpersists بِهِin him كُفرٌunbelief فَقَدthen already ذاقاhe has tasted
Hell's hospitality reached him before his death;
Before his death, Hellfire came to him
and if unbelief persists in him, he has already tasted it.
So if his blasphemy persists, he has tasted
