Sol 6.1

  1. حَدَّثَني الشَوقُ عَن تَباريحي

    أَن ضَنى الجِسمَ صَيقَلُ الروحِ

    Longing told me of my torments:

    That the body's wasting is the soul's polish;

  2. وَأَنَّ صُفرَ الوُجوهِ مُسفِرَةٌ

    تُشرِقُ في اللَيلِ كَالمَصابيحِ

    And that pallid faces are radiant,

    Shining in the night like lamps;

  3. وَأَنَّ روحُ الإِلهِ مُطَّلِعٌ

    عَلى المُحِبّينَ في التَراويحِ

    And that the spirit of God watches

    Over lovers during the nightly prayers.

  4. أَفلَحَ عَبدٌ جَفا الكَرى سَهراً

    بَينَ سُجودٍ وَبَينَ تَسبيحِ

    A servant prospers who shuns slumber to keep vigil,

    Between prostration and glorification.

  5. خَلا بِمَولاهُ غَيرَ مُلتَفِتٍ

    في الجَمعِ لِلفَرقِ غَيرَ تَلويحِ

    He was alone with his Lord, not turning

    In union toward distinction, save by a hint.

  6. أَصبَحَ مَنبِتُ سَيرِهِ فَلَهُ

    مِن لُطفِ مَولاهُ أَيُّ تَرويحِ

    His journey has come to a halt; and his is

    Such solace from his Lord's kindness!

  7. شاهِدٌ ما غابَ في سَريرَتِهِ

    وَطارَ إِحساسُهُ مَعَ الريحِ

    He witnesses what is hidden in his inmost self,

    And his senses have flown away with the wind.

  8. لا مِثلَ مَن لُوِّنَت مَسالِكُهُ

    فَتاهُ بَينَ المَهامِهِ الفيحِ

    Unlike one whose paths were colored,

    So he strayed amid the vast wildernesses.

  9. عَرِّض بِالحَقِّ في المِثالِ لَهُ

    وَالفَوزُ لَونالَهُ بِتَصريحِ

    Allude to the Truth for him through a likeness;

    And triumph would be his if he attained it through plain disclosure.

  10. مَولايَ إِنّي عَلَيكَ مُعتَمِدٌ

    فَجُد بِفَضلٍ عَلَيَّ مَمنوحِ

    My Lord, truly I rely on You;

    So generously bestow Your bounty upon me;

  11. وَنَجِّني فَالذُنوبُ مُغرَقَتي

    وَأَنتَ نَجَّيتَ تابِعي نوحِ

    And save me, for sins are drowning me;

    And You saved Noah's followers.
