Your eyelids have infected your body with sickness.

No—rather, my heart has infected it with pain.

And indeed, your fever comes from a fire that blazes

In your cheek, never ceasing to burn.

Sickness came to him, seeking light from him.

How beautiful his cheeks—a fire upon a mountain!

Why has his fever been cruel to a lip

That I have always feared to kiss with my mouth?

It has turned the mark of kissing on his mouth

Into a gemstone for the ring of that cool, smiling mouth.
