أُسَرُّ إِذا مَا غِبْتَ عَنِّي لِقُرْبه

You took my heart when you departed, and I was not

You took my heart when you left, though I don't rejoice

gladdened by its nearness when you were absent from me.

When you're away from me, despite our closeness.

ولا أَدَّعي أَنِّي ذكرتُك ساعةً

ولا أَدَّعي أَنِّي ذكرتُك ساعةً

وهل يذكرُ الإِنسانُ إِلاَّ بِقَلْبهِ

وهل يذكرُ الإِنسانُ إِلاَّ بِقَلْبهِ

Nor do I claim that I remembered you for a moment;

I won't pretend I thought of you for an hour -

And does a person remember except with his heart?
