    Put your thoughts to work in lampooning him.

    And make tales of him your evening talk.

    لا أُسمِّي هجوَه دُرَرَا

    And string together dung pellets in lampooning him;

    I do not call lampoons of him pearls.

    And fill his temples with anxiety,

    And keep his eyelids open with sleeplessness.

    تَجدُوه الكَلبَ والبَشَرا

    And look at him: you will see a marvel;

    You will find him both dog and man.

    A face—no, private parts laid bare,

    Revealing to us shame and blindness in one eye.

    And a mouth like a latrine, assailing us

    With talk like a thousand turds.

    If one of his eyes is blind,

    Then he will never see through it.

    تلك عينُ تطلب الأَثرا

    Yet he has an eye at his private parts;

    That is an eye that seeks the trace.

    Before him, we had never seen a male

    Who longs to eat a penis.

    Never anger a poet,

    And beware of poets' tongues.
