ياO ناظراًgazing فيinto النَّهْرِthe river وهwhile he (وهو begins here)
يا ناظراً في النَّهْرِ وه
وcompletes وهو ('while he') بِشَطِّهalong its bank يتنزَّهْhe strolls
و بِشَطِّه يتنزَّهْ
O you gazing into the river, while you
O you who gaze upon the river's flow
stroll along its bank—
Strolling along its bank at evening's glow
والنهرand the river كَمٌّa sleeve أَزرَقٌblue
والنهر كَمٌّ أَزرَقٌ
وخيالُand the reflection وَجْهِكَof your face طرَّزهhas embroidered it
وخيالُ وَجْهِكَ طرَّزه
and the river is a blue sleeve,
The river blue meanders to and fro
and your face’s reflection has embroidered it.
While your visage adorns its waters' show
