لقد عَمُرَتْ بيوتُ الحسنِ مِمَّن

لقد عَمُرَتْ بيوتُ الحسنِ مِمَّن

عليهِ بحسنه خَرِبَتْ بُيُوتُ

عليهِ بحسنه خَرِبَتْ بُيُوتُ

Indeed, the houses of beauty have flourished through one

The houses of beauty were built by those

on whose account, because of his beauty, houses have fallen to ruin.

Whose own homes were ruined by their beauty,

وبيتُ البَدْرِ أَوَّلُه خرابٌ

وبيتُ البَدْرِ أَوَّلُه خرابٌ

فكلَّفَه عليه العنْكبُوتُ

فكلَّفَه عليه العنْكبُوتُ

And the full moon's house is ruined from its outset,

And the house of the full moon lies in ruins

so the spider upon it has marked it with dark spots.

While over it spin cobwebs of lament.
