ولكلِّ مل يهواه قَلْبي مُنْجِزا
I have a friend who has won my affection,
I have a friend whose affection has become indispensable to me
and fulfills all that my heart desires.
And whatever my heart desired, he fulfilled

ورأَى قَضَاءَ الحَقِّ عَنْهُ مُعْوزَا
When he saw my kindness to him continuing unbroken,
When he saw my kindness to him was unceasing
and saw that fulfilling his obligation was beyond his means,
And he saw the course of truth left him bereft

he bestowed on me a recompense by assailing
He gifted me a reward for my taking
my honor—may God repay him for this recompense.
My honor, may God reward him for this reward
