سبحانglory be to ربِّكyour Lord فالقِcleaver of الإِصباحِthe dawn
سبحان ربِّك فالقِ الإِصباحِ
منfrom وجْهكyour face المتوقِّدِblazing المصباحِthe lamp
من وجْهك المتوقِّدِ المصباحِ
Glory be to your Lord, who cleaves the dawn
Glorious is your Lord, splitter of dawn
from your face, that blazing lamp.
From your kindled face, the lamp
ياO بدرَfull moon of داجِيةٍa dark night وشمسَand sun of ظهيرةٍnoon
يا بدرَ داجِيةٍ وشمسَ ظهيرةٍ
وقضيبَand a slender branch كُثبانٍsand dunes وريمَand a white gazelle بطاحِopen plains
وقضيبَ كُثبانٍ وريمَ بطاحِ
O full moon of a dark night and sun of noon,
O full moon of dusk and midday sun
and slender branch of dunes and white gazelle of the plains!
And twilight’s sand dunes and dew of meadows
ياO مُتْعبَyou who weary العُذَّالِthe reproachers والعُشَّاقِand the lovers والand the
يا مُتْعبَ العُذَّالِ والعُشَّاقِ وال
حُسادِenvious people والوُصَّافِand the describers والمُدَّاحand the praisers
حُسادِ والوُصَّافِ والمُدَّاح
O you who weary reproachers and lovers, and the
O torment of judges and lovers and
envious, and those who describe you and those who praise you!
Enviers, portrayers, and flatterers
أَناI فيكbecause of you مأَخوذٌtaken captive بغيرِwithout جَريرةٍan offense
أَنا فيك مأَخوذٌ بغيرِ جَريرةٍ
أَناI منكَby you مقتولٌslain بغيْرِwithout سِلاَحِa weapon
أَنا منكَ مقتولٌ بغيْرِ سِلاَحِ
Because of you I am taken captive, guilty of no offense;
I am seized by you without crime
I am slain by you, without a weapon.
I am slain by you without arms
بالصَّدِّby rejection تقتُلُyou kill فيin الهوىlove وقتلتَنيand you have killed me
بالصَّدِّ تقتُلُ في الهوى وقتلتَني
بالوَصْلِby union فاقْتُلْنيso kill me بغيرwithout جُناحblame
بالوَصْلِ فاقْتُلْني بغير جُناح
By rejection you kill in love, and you have killed me
With rejection you kill in love and you killed me
by union—so kill me without blame.
With union kill me without wings
