تُهتَyou strayed عنَّاfrom us مُذsince تِهتَyou grew haughty عُجْباًin conceit عليناtoward us
تُهتَ عنَّا مُذ تِهتَ عُجْباً علينا
ياO كثيرَmuch given to الخَطاerror قليلَlittle given to الإِصابَهْbeing right
يا كثيرَ الخَطا قليلَ الإِصابَهْ
You have strayed from us since you grew haughty toward us in your conceit,
O you, so often wrong and so seldom right!
نحنwe فيat دَعْوةٍa feast فإِنْso if غِبْتَyou are absent عنَّاfrom us
نحن في دَعْوةٍ فإِنْ غِبْتَ عنَّا
رجعتْwill become دعوةٌa prayer عليكagainst you مُجابَهْanswered
رجعتْ دعوةٌ عليك مُجابَهْ
We are at a feast; so if you stay away from us,
The invitation will become an answered prayer against you.
