وقائلand someone saying جفنكyour eyelid لمhas not يَغْتَمِضْclosed
وقائل جفنك لم يَغْتَمِضْ
والليلwhile the night فيin ساعتهits hour السّابِعَهْthe seventh
والليل في ساعته السّابِعَهْ
And someone said, “Your eyelid has not closed,
Your eyelids have not grown weary,
though the night is in its seventh hour.”
Though it is the seventh hour of night.
منwho ذاthis one الذيwho تَغْمُضclose أَجْفَانُهhis eyelids
من ذا الذي تَغْمُض أَجْفَانُه
والشَّمْسwhile the sun مِنْfrom مَرْقَدِهhis bed طَالِعَهْrising
والشَّمْس مِنْ مَرْقَدِه طَالِعَهْ
Who could close his eyelids
Who is it whose eyelids close
while the sun is rising from his bed?
When the sun is rising from its bed?
