عوّضَنيhe compensated me بالبُعْدِwith distance مِنْin place of قُرْبِهِhis nearness
عوّضَني بالبُعْدِ مِنْ قُرْبِهِ
ومنand in place of رُقَادِيmy slumber مَعَهُwith him بالسَّهَرْwith sleeplessness
ومن رُقَادِي مَعَهُ بالسَّهَرْ
He compensated me for his nearness with distance,
He gave me distance in place of his nearness,
and for my slumber beside him with sleeplessness.
and sleeplessness in place of my slumber beside him.
إِنِّيindeed, I منthrough ذِكراهُremembering him فيin جَنَّةٍa paradise
إِنِّي من ذِكراهُ في جَنَّةٍ
ومِنْand from دُمُوعِيmy tears بعدهin his absence فيin نَهَرْa river
ومِنْ دُمُوعِي بعده في نَهَرْ
Indeed, through remembering him I am in a garden,
Indeed, through remembering him I am in paradise,
and through my tears in his absence, in a river.
and from my tears in his absence, I am in a river.
