ـمِرُ من حَسْرتِي عليها وحُزْني

I am ashamed to tell people what I con-

I'm ashamed to tell people what I conceal

ceal of my anguish over her and my sorrow.

Of my regret for her and my sorrow

وأُرَاعِي ما لا يَرى ما أُعانيـ

وأُرَاعِي ما لا يَرى ما أُعانيـ

ـهِ لئلا يَخِفَّ في النَّاسِ وَزْنِي

ـهِ لئلا يَخِفَّ في النَّاسِ وَزْنِي

And I heed what does not see what I endure,

And I'm wary of what's unseen of my suffering

lest I carry less weight among people.

Lest it diminish my worth in people's eyes
