أَلا أَيُّها الملِكُ المشتَرِي

أَلا أَيُّها الملِكُ المشتَرِي

قلوبَ الأَنامِ بأَمْوَالِه

قلوبَ الأَنامِ بأَمْوَالِه

Lo, O king who buys

O King who buys hearts with his wealth

the hearts of humankind with his wealth,

And is most generous to people with his bounty

ومن أَوْسَعَ الخَلْقَ من فضْلِه

ومن أَوْسَعَ الخَلْقَ من فضْلِه

وجادَ عليهم بِأَفضاله

وجادَ عليهم بِأَفضاله

and who has amply provided for all people from his bounty,

Giving gifts for the sake of being remembered

and generously bestowed his favors upon them:

And gaining praise for his condition

فبذْلُ النَّوالِ عَلَى ذِكْرِه

فبذْلُ النَّوالِ عَلَى ذِكْرِه

وحَوْزُ الثَّنَاءِ على بالِه

وحَوْزُ الثَّنَاءِ على بالِه

bestowing gifts is in his thoughts,

I congratulate you on a year that comes inclining

and winning praise is on his mind.

Towards you with its inclination

أُهنيكَ عاماً أَتى مُقْبِلاً

أُهنيكَ عاماً أَتى مُقْبِلاً

يَمُتُّ إِليك بإِقْبَالِه

يَمُتُّ إِليك بإِقْبَالِه

I congratulate you on a year that has come auspiciously,

And remains busy with none but you

claiming kinship with you through its good fortune.

Seeing you is the greatest of its occupations

وما زال مشتَغِلاً عن سواك

وما زال مشتَغِلاً عن سواك

ولُقياك أَكبرُ اشغَالِه

ولُقياك أَكبرُ اشغَالِه

It has always been too occupied for anyone but you,

I had offered congratulations before

and meeting you is its greatest concern.

The herald stood to chant them

وقد كنتُ هنَّأْتُ مِنْ قبلِ أَنْ

وقد كنتُ هنَّأْتُ مِنْ قبلِ أَنْ

يقومَ البَشِيرُ بإِهْلاَلِه

يقومَ البَشِيرُ بإِهْلاَلِه

I had already congratulated you before

I speculated and then my heart hoped

the herald rose to announce its crescent's appearance.

For the good news of what his omens foretold

تَفَاءَلتُ ثم رَجَا خاطري

تَفَاءَلتُ ثم رَجَا خاطري

بشارةَ ما صحَّ من فأْلِه

بشارةَ ما صحَّ من فأْلِه

I took it as a good omen; then my mind hoped

And it began hoping for its circumstances

for glad tidings that its omen had come true.

And desiring alertness in its state

وأَصبحَ يأمُلُ في حَوْلِه

وأَصبحَ يأمُلُ في حَوْلِه

ويرجُو النباهةَ في حَالِه

ويرجُو النباهةَ في حَالِه

And it began to cherish hopes for that year,

And you, O most generous of the generous

and to hope for distinction in its station.

Are inclined to fulfilling its hopes

وإِنَّك يا أَكرمَ الأَكرمين

وإِنَّك يا أَكرمَ الأَكرمين

مليٌّ بتحقيق آمَاله

مليٌّ بتحقيق آمَاله

And indeed you, O most generous of the generous,

So you have remained, and still remain, in grace

are well able to fulfill its hopes.

Congratulations for the likes of which are wished

فدُمْتَ ولا زلتَ في نِعْمَةِ

فدُمْتَ ولا زلتَ في نِعْمَةِ

تُهنَّأُ فيها بأَمْثَالِه

تُهنَّأُ فيها بأَمْثَالِه

So may you endure, and ever remain amid blessings,

receiving congratulations amid them on years like this one.
