أَميلُI incline إِليهtoward him ولاand not أَنكُصُI draw back
أَميلُ إِليه ولا أَنكُصُ
ويغْلُوand he grows dearer عليَّto me ولاand not يَرْخُصُhe becomes cheaper
ويغْلُو عليَّ ولا يَرْخُصُ
I incline toward him and do not draw back.
I yearn for him though I do not recoil
And he grows dearer to me, never less dear.
He is harsh with me yet grants no respite
يزيدُincreases ويَنْقُصُand decreases بدرُthe full moon التَّمامِof fullness
يزيدُ ويَنْقُصُ بدرُ التَّمامِ
وهذاand this one يَزيدُincreases ولاand not ينْقُصُdecreases
وهذا يَزيدُ ولا ينْقُصُ
The full moon waxes and wanes,
The full moon waxes and wanes
yet this one waxes and never wanes.
While he only waxes, he does not wane
