ياO! بِأَبيwith my father as ransom مَنْthe one who ذكرُهُthe memory of him فيin الحَشاthe heart
يا بِأَبي مَنْ ذكرُهُ في الحَشا
ضيْفيmy guest وذكْرِيand the memory of me فيin الحَشاthe heart ضيفُهُhis guest
ضيْفي وذكْرِي في الحَشا ضيفُهُ
Ah, may my father be ransom for him whose memory in my heart
Oh, my father, one whose mention in the crowd
Is my guest, while the memory of me in his heart is his guest.
Is my guest, and my mention in the crowd his guest
لاdo not تحْسَبُونيthink me ناعساًdrowsy إِنَّماonly
لا تحْسَبُوني ناعساً إِنَّما
سَجَدْتُI prostrated myself لماwhen مَرَّpassed بيby me طيفُهُhis apparition
سَجَدْتُ لما مَرَّ بي طيفُهُ
Do not think me drowsy; I merely
Do not reckon me asleep, rather
Prostrated myself when his apparition passed by me.
I bowed down to what passed by me, his apparition
