كَيفَhow أُصغيI listen لِلعاذِلَينto the two reprovers
كَيفَ أُصغي لِلعاذِلَين
مَعَwith صَبريmy patience لِلعاذِلَينtoward the two reprovers
مَعَ صَبري لِلعاذِلَين
How can I heed the two reprovers,
How can I listen to the blamers
for all my patience with the two reprovers?
Despite my patience with the blamers
إِنَّindeed خَصميmy adversary لَدىamid الشَجىsorrow
إِنَّ خَصمي لَدى الشَجى
فيin هَواهُlove for him قَلبٌa heart وَعَينand an eye

Indeed, amid sorrow my adversary
My adversary in passion
in loving him is a heart and an eye.
His love a heart and an eye

I am truthful in love;
I am sincere in love
I am lovesick, with two witnesses.
I am truthful with two witnesses

So if I get weary
a barrier is set between us by those two.
What's between us remains steadfast

in youthful passion, am allied to two intoxications.
In my youth swearing two intoxications

My excuse stands with the beauty of one
whom I love madly, without falsehood:
Whose love pierced me without blemish

His saliva is sweetened by two drinks

If he gave me some of his saliva,
If he would give me of his saliva
it would be an antidote to two scorpions.
It would be an antidote for two poisons

He was singular for this reason:
He was unique due to this one
beauty held sway twice.
Who beauty reigned over twice

When he has attained two gentlenesses
