يَأويhe finds shelter إِلىin حَسَبٍancestral honor مِثلِlike السُهاSuha (a faint star) شَرَفاًin loftiness
يَأوي إِلى حَسَبٍ مِثلِ السُها شَرَفاً
لَكِنَّbut ذاكَthat خَفِيٌّhidden وَهوَwhile he مَشهورُrenowned
لَكِنَّ ذاكَ خَفِيٌّ وَهوَ مَشهورُ
He finds shelter in ancestral honor as lofty as Suha,
Yet that is hidden, while he is renowned.
كَأَنَّهُas though he were السَيفُthe sword فيin الهَيجاءِbattle مُنصَلِتاًunsheathed
كَأَنَّهُ السَيفُ في الهَيجاءِ مُنصَلِتاً
لَوif كانَthere were لِلسَيفِfor the sword فيin الهَيجاءِbattle تَدبيرُjudgment
لَو كانَ لِلسَيفِ في الهَيجاءِ تَدبيرُ
He is like a sword unsheathed in battle—
If a sword had judgment in battle.
