Leave off blaming me for love, and excuse me, you two.

Help me in my weeping, if I weep.

You would not blame one like me for ardent longing,

distraught with love, had you both endured what I endured.

In ignorance, you both urge me to sleep,

while, in love, I have been barred from it.

You both know slumber, while my eyelids' union

has long been sundered from their sleep.

O my two dear friends, tell me truthfully:

What does slumber taste like? For I have forgotten.
