Watering place with him but a mirage.

The dream-phantom learned from you to forsake me,

So I never see it without its turning away.

كم كتبَ الدَّمعُ فوق خدي

إِليك شكوى بلا جواب

How often tears have written upon my cheek

A complaint to you, without a reply.

أَغلقتَ باب الوِصال دوني

أَغلقتَ باب الوِصال دوني

فَسُدَّض للصّبر كلُّ باب

فَسُدَّض للصّبر كلُّ باب

You shut the door of union against me,

So every door to patience was shut.

إِن كان يحلو لديْك ظُلْمي

إِن كان يحلو لديْك ظُلْمي

فَزِدْ من الهجر في عذابي

فَزِدْ من الهجر في عذابي

If wronging me is sweet to you,

Then increase my torment with more estrangement.

عسى يُطيلُ الوقوفَ بيْني

عسى يُطيلُ الوقوفَ بيْني

وبَيْنَك اللّهُ في الحساب

وبَيْنَك اللّهُ في الحساب

May the standing between me

And you be prolonged by God at the reckoning.
