نظرت من البستان أحسن منظر

وقد حجبَ الأغصانُ شمسَ المشارق

I gazed upon the garden's loveliest sight,

I gazed from the garden at the finest view

while the branches had veiled the rising sun:

The branches concealed the rising sun

إلى دوح كمثرى يلوحُ كأنه

قناديلُ تبر محكماتُ العلائقِ

upon great pear trees, gleaming as though they were

Towards a palm tree blossoming as though

lamps of gold, their hanging cords firmly fastened;

It were lanterns of musk and finest composition

وسافرة عن أوجهٍ من سفرجلٍ

وسافرة عن أوجهٍ من سفرجلٍ

يحيل على معنًى من الحسن فائقِ

يحيل على معنًى من الحسن فائقِ

and boughs unveiling faces of quince,

And it travels from faces of yellow orchil

evoking an exceptional kind of beauty.

Which alludes to a meaning of surpassing beauty

حكت سرر الغاداتِ منها أسافلٌ

حكت سرر الغاداتِ منها أسافلٌ

وتحكي أعاليها نهود العواتقِ

وتحكي أعاليها نهود العواتقِ

Their lower parts resembled the navels of graceful women,

It related the secrets of maidens, some lowly

and their upper parts resemble the breasts of maidens.

And the tops tell of the swaying of maidens
